Hink Illustrated Designs for The Card Shed

This month sees the launch of our first ‘DESIGNERS’ range at The Card Shed, and we are VERY excited as the designer that has joined us is a very talented man indeed.

We first saw Hink’s work through the world of twitter and instantly knew that we wanted him to be involved, so we asked nicely, to our delight he said yes. This is what he had to say when we threw a few questions his way so you could get to know HINK a little better…

Name?

Graeme Henderson.

Company Name?

HINK (Stands for Henderson Ink)

How long have you been working as a designer?

I started my design career late as I thought I sould get a ‘real’ job first and keep drawing as a hobby; How wrong was I. Since focusing on illustration and design as a job I haven’t looked back. It’s like this quote says:

“Find something you love to do and you’ll never have to work a day in your life” - Harvey MacKay.

Describe your design style…

I don’t really know, I guess I would say clean, crisp, cartoonish. I’ve never really been asked that before… hmm that’s got me thinking.

Where are you based in Kent?

I am currently based in Margate but will shortly be moving to Faversham, I’m looking forward to getting back into the countryside. Although the seaside can be great with the right weather.

What do you love about the are that you live in?

I have to say aside from the summer days and lazy afternoons by the beach I love the ‘fairly recent’ explosion of Margate’s creative hub in the old town. It has a great buzz about the place and is a welcome break from the charity shops and amusement arcades that Margate is known for. It’s giving the place a well needed injection of culture despite what some locals say.

Give us a quote that keeps you motivated…

There’s a couple that help me get or stay focused:

“People of accomplishment rarely sat back and let things happen to them, They went out and happened to things.” - Da Vinci

“Our talents are the gift that God gives us… What we make of our talents is our gift back to God.” - Leo Buscaglia

One sunny day, off the boys went, in their little car, with cameras at the ready. Ramsgate, Margate, Broadstairs. “What a busy day” they thought, well “to the drawing board”… a little while later with inspiration firmly in place, this design of Broadstairs Harbour was what ‘White One Sugar’ designer Ryan Ambrose created, and frankly, we love it… so we are selling it as a Greetings Card in The Card Shed… Lovely. http://www.thecardshed.com/broadstairs-blank-greetings-cards.html

Now that the sun seems to be showing up more often, we have been thinking about summer and all the places we can see and people we can go and have a frosty beverage with when it is warm. One of the cards that we have in The Card Shed is of Brighton Pier and has been drawn by our very good friend Ryan Ambrose. We can’t wait to get out to the beach this year and we hope that you will be reminded of great summer days and send a card to someone close to you and brighten their day… #getintouch http://www.thecardshed.com/brighton-blank-greetings-cards.html

We all know that feeling of finding a letter on the doormat that isn’t from the gas company! Yes when someone has sent you a beautiful, locally designed and printed card and to top it off, it’s a picture of where you stayed last summer! What a thoughtful friend. Because we all love to receive letters and cards we at The Card Shed are dedicated to producing the best cards in Kent. We are working our way around the coast and have even popped to London to bring you the best designs from local artists and companies! We want to support our local community and bring our customers the best service possible. Go on send someone a card… #getintouch www.thecardshed.com
